MULTIMATIC MOTORSPORTS PRESENTS HUGE MUSTANG
TRIBUTE FEATURE AT THE TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW
March 8, 9 & 10, 2019 at Toronto's International Centre
TORONTO, ON // FEBRUARY 19, 2019 • The fifth annual Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo will recognize and celebrate the 55th anniversary of the legendary Ford Mustang. Presented by Multimatic Motorsports, The Mustang Corralwill feature an eye-catching assortment of street and racing versions of the iconic muscle car, from its introduction to the present.
Still reeling from the failure of the Ford Edsel, Henry Ford II was originally reluctant to approve Lee Iacocca's concept for the new Mustang. Eventually, Ford relented, and production began, with the first example rolling off the assembly line on March 9, 1964. Over the ensuing 55 years, six generations of Mustangs – totalling over 10 million vehicles – have been produced.
Stated Motorama Show Car Co-ordinator Gary Challice, "It's perfectly timed for the Motorama show to celebrate the Mustang, a car that set the standard for the muscle cars in the 1960s and beyond. Mustang has such a glorious history, we're honoured to have more than 40 examples, covering the full spectrum of street, road racing and drag cars, here to celebrate the 55th anniversary."
When it comes to engineering and building production-based Mustangs for global road racing series, the undisputed leader is Markham, Ontario's Multimatic Motorsports.
With the assistance of Canadian race driver, Scott Maxwell, Multimatic has designed, developed and constructed road-race Mustangs that have enjoyed a long and distinguished history of success.
One of Multimatic's most recent developments is the Mustang GT4, homologated for global GT4 competition, and currently racing in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, Blancpain GT World Challenge America and the British GT Championship.
Multimatic Motorsports' display atMotorama will include a Mustang GT4, along with the company's 'retro-mod' 1932 Ford Coupe. In addition, as builder of the current Ford GT supercar, Multimatic will have one on display, liveried in the iconic Comstock Racing colours. Multimatic will also have recruiters on-site, specifically seeking highly skilled painters and detailers for its Ford GT assembly facility in Markham.
Multimatic Motorsports will support the show's Mustang exhibitors by sponsoring participation plaques of appreciation that will be awarded to each car owner.
"The response from Mustang clubs and car owners to the anniversary feature atMotorama has been incredible," said Motorama's Rob Morton. "This will be the biggest single-make celebration we've ever included at the show. The fact that Canada's own Multimatic is going to be a big part of it is the cherry on top! We've worked closely with them since our company was formed in 1997. We were honoured to be on their Le Mans-winning car in 2000, and Larry Holt's (Multimatic's Chief Technology Officer) column in our car racing magazine, Inside Track Motorsport News, is a 'must read' piece in every issue. We're honoured that they're participating at the show this year."
The Mustang Corral will occupy the southern portion of Hall 2 in Toronto's International Centre and will welcome the public for all three days (March 8, 9 & 10) ofMotorama.
